Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Xanpam, I have never seen this stove labeled as norge.  Montgomery Ward sold a dead ringer for this one in coil top and that strange smoothtop version where each individual burner was separated by metal... No doubt Norge may have made them thru the mid 1970's.  Both Norge and Westinghouse made laundry products for Wards.  Norge as the source for this stove would not surprise me.   alr

Waiting to hear....

...the pros chime in on this Norge Stove?  It looks nice.  The warming shelf would be a nice feature for baking bread, rolls, and such as an ideal area to allow dough to rise - I think.  Interesting how the burners have an enclosed area beneath them to catch spills, crumbs, etc... protected from the wiring and other electrical components.  Don't see that feature in later versions of electric stoves - not sure if I've ever seen it? I wonder if the insulation was good in the Norge stoves?  Really neat.  There seem to be more stoves and appliances posted from Wisconsin, or maybe it's just my perception?

Norge Electric Range

I have never seen this version of this range before, This range is a Philco Ford design, it went to Coloric so they could have a line of Self-cleaning Electric ranges to sell. Coloric also used this range platform for their micro-electric ME ranges and they even made a Gas Micro true full time convection dual blower oven range out of this design.

Montgomery Wards did sell the Coloris built Micro gas and electric versions of this design, BUT the ranges that wards sold with the top warming shelf and the smoothtop ranges where the ST was divided into four sections were both built by Tappan and had nothing to do with the pictured Norge range.

This Norge range would be a cool one to get and use, these ranges were very well built.

I Think...

These were some of the ones when any unit was turned on, the flourescent light would come on, the Wards signatures did too., by this time they had fixed the oven liner issues of the 50s and early 60s.

John, thank You.  I was going by memory Wards  seemed to have different manufacturers for many products in the same category. It gets confusing.  arthur

It's very clean, and I do like the knobs up high like that.  It just looks odd, which makes it a perfect candidate for the Wards catalog.

Growing up, our next door neighbors had a 60's Norge gas stove in coppertone.  It had a florescent lit panel that they used to light the kitchen (burners were often used to light cigarettes).  It was a nightly view from my upstairs window.

Norge Electric Range

Since this was originally a Philco-Ford range [ and I believe PF wisely only made electric ranges ] there would be no gas version of this range. Interestingly Coloric when they owned this design did a full dual convection all gas version of this range that incorporated an Amana built microwave power pack for the oven. The only versions of this range design that were ever was sold by Montgomery Wards was the Micro gas and electric versions that were built by Coloric, these ranges carried the MW name and had slightly different control panel graphics.
