Well, here in the northeast, flea market season officially got underway. That means that my other half and I dragged ourselves out of bed at the crack of dawn and started running around our favorite flea market fields looking for treasures. Actually, I'm the hunter. He's the looker. So, he's usually three aisles behind. But anyway, I thought I'd share a few finds.

Today, certainly was "New old stock" day. My first find was the Sunbeam Mixer pictured below -- NEVER USED. Items such as beaters and stainer for the juicer still wrapped in the original paper. I cleaned everything up and it looks like new.

Wonderful! I love when people got duplicate wedding gifts and didn't return the second! :)

What does it say on the box, behind the mixer? If it's a model 5, I think that means it's a pre-war unit, which is even that much more amazing!

Ron, since my parents got married in 1944, I am not too sure they'd have gotten the mixer as a wedding present, but I think they may have. Anyway, Mom's Sunbeam looked exactly like that. I'll have to get out the mixing bowl that looks like the big one and see if it's from the mixer. My mom did get a 3-bowl stainless bowl set since those weren't breakable. We had that mixer until the mid-60s when the maid dropped it one too many times. But this is the first time I've seen this exact "style" from everyone's acquisitions. Glad I finally got to see one. Oh, and congrats.

I've got just three words!

Mixmaster's rock!!

Great finds!! It is hard to imagine that a 1939 Mixmaster could still be found MIB!! That is a very rare find Ron. Congratulations! I just love the Mixmasters of the 1940's,and have restored several. That is a model #5 The last Mixmaster not to have the beater ejecter feature.

I recently restored a model #7 for my sweetheart. Now we both have the same models, only I have the jadite bowls.

Rick,

I agree. Mixmasters do rock!!! I was very lucky to find this since it was found at the second flea market I went to on Sunday, and the sellers were packing up for the day. I have to say that I did get it at an incredible price.

I had originally thought that I would resell it, but now I think it's going to stay in the collection for a while. In addition to this Mixmaster, I have the aqua and yellow Mixmasters. My next find hopefully will be the pink one.

Thanks for the information on the mixer.

Ron

I think you should keep that one for awhile Ron. It is a very rare find. If it were mine,I do not think that it would ever be used. There are quite a few people that are really into collecting the early Mixmasters. While you do see some of the early models here and there, you never see one in this kind of original condition. Some of the attachments go for big $$$ on ebay. I would think one of the collectors would pay quite a lot for your Mixmaster c.1939,still new in the box.

A wonderful rare and unlikely find. The same model still
in place in my paternal grandmothers pantry. Looks like
you have the creamer, sugarer, tray, for the Coffee maker
too. When I'm in RI next, may I come for coffee? I promise to
wear white gloves and a tasteful hat!!
