Frankly, it's a testament to your intelligence that you had nothing at all to do with this. What good is it going to do you when you have to reach in and lift something out if this is snaped to the racks? I would not even give it one snap. You still have to protect your hands when you handle hot pans. A pair of those silicone gloves would offer far more protection and maybe more fun later. And with it having been made in
China, heaven knows what kind of fumes the thing is going to give off while it's in the oven the whole time that you are cooking.

I agree with you, but, how many will buy this product so the inventor can make tons of money? Guess that is just the American dream...and I am just the messenger......

The grooved Bakelite ring around the top of the upper bowl is meant to be the handle since it does not get as hot as the metal bowl. The bracket on the underside of the lid engaged the horizontal piece at the top of the filter frame, so that by turning the knob on the top, you could unscrew the filter holding the two bowls together without having to touch the hot filter. It is amazing how much they thought through the user's needs when designing an appliance that was almost a work of art. You have a beautiful C20. Tom

That's what I was thinking. All you need is a pair of gloves or potholders to slide the rack out and get the pan. I would never think of sticking bare hands in the oven.
