Haven't heard any news reports on this. I'd think if there was an earthquake felt anywhere east of California it would make the news no matter how small its magnitude.

Remember in New Madrid, Mo there is a HUGE fault that last shook back in the early 1800's. Those were 7.0 on the Richter scale. Some geoscientists say this fault is overdue for a major shift. If it does, it can shake the use almost to the east coast!

I hope nobody got hurt or had any property damage from this.

It was a partial building collapsed not too far from where live, this is the same area for the New Atlantic Arena.
This map shows how close this new stadium will be to me after it is built.

Oh yea, there is a homeless shelter that is behind that building which I did not know existed! Do you smell smoke to push the people out???

I'm on the cross street of Washington Ave and Fulton St.

Hi Larry. I used to live in Bayside, Queens. I do remember that back in the late 80's or early 90's there was an earthquake. I was woken up at 4 in the morning and watched my bed shake. After moving to Palm Springs, California where I lived through 2 earthquakes, I would hear that New York is going to get one.
Now I am in Tucson, Arizona and out of earthquake country.

Ross, you're a bless man to survive two quakes!
I do remember that quake back in the 90's and
I hope that day when NY Shakes again will never come, for there are so many people, too many buildings and nowhere to run......

Shake, rattle and roll for most, run, duck and cover for all!

Hi Larry, Yes I am afraid if there is another quake in NYC that NYC has never prepared for it. In California, buildings are constructed with earthquakes in mind. I fear that if one occurs in NYC, it may be worse than 9/11.
My parents were originally from Richmond Hill, Queens but moved to Bayside in 1949.
I am born and raised in Bayside. Lived there for 45 years before I moved out west for a warmer climate.
In my heart, I will always be a New Yorker.

I feel the Earth, move, under my feet.........

Oh chil' I do remember the one in the 80's. I thought there was a truck that had driven into my living room. I knew what had happened , but was in shock and disbelief in that "that does not happen, HERE!" *LOL*

Who was teling me they were doing the horizontal tango one very early morning and missed the whole event? And I mean it was a BIG one. DAMN I wish I could recall.

"Oh baby, the Earth MOVED for me!"

"In my heart, I will always be a New Yorker".

I couldn't agree more! I will always feel lucky to have grown up on NY's Long Island. Some of the best public schools in the country are on LI. Not to mention restaurants!! Unlike here in Florida, Long Island has very few chain restaurants. Everything is either mom and pop or a Diner which is fine with me.

Take care Ross!!

Hi Shane. I am with you as far as restaurants. Although we have great Mexican food in Tucson, the Italian and Chinese is not as good as NY. The last German places closed so there is very little variety here.
I am here for the warm climate, although we had a very cold winter here this year. I think in January, it was warmer in NY than here in Tucson. Hope next year is better.
