This is a link to the Target ad for this week. Make sure you read the heading on the top of page 9. I guess there must be a bit of a cross dresser in some of the Dad's out there. No doubt this will make the "Headlines" segment on Leno.

If you hadn't pointed it out I would have missed it.

I must say Target sells almost the same junk over there that they sell over here.

"Same junk"

Now, Rapunzel :) .....compared to Wal*Mart, Target (Tarjet, or Bullseye Boutique to its intimates,) is nearly a top-class department store.

When I go to Wal*Mart, I often feel like slitting my wrists (slight exaggeration, but not that far from the truth), whereas when I leave a Target, I merely feel as though I spent too much (a more livable feeling).

Is that a bannana in your pocket or...?

On a similar note...

This is the Dockers page from the Father's Day Weekend flyer from Sears Canada. This is an un-retouched scan of what was printed. Um, very nice pleated white chinos there, Dad, and the feller to your left thinks so, too.

Over here it's pronounced "Tarjay" (with emphasis on the 'a' and soft 'j')to give it a French flavor. Those that do can often be observed wearing faux pearls, which supposedly enhances their shopping experience there. I tend to run through that store and, if I don't find what I want in under 5 minutes, I am out of there. Target also seems to attract a disproportionately high number of psycho mothers with buggies, whose sole purpose of being there is to turn my shopping experience into a gauntlet run.

I am a Kmart man myself. Maybe because I used to shop there when I lived in the States; I don't know, it's just a better fit for me. I reckon they have a better selection, better pricing and quality than Target. I usually go there wearing checkered flanel shirts, old jeans and flip flops (no socks of course), and no pearls, faux or otherwise.

BigW, which would evoke a deja vu moment with Walmart shoppers from your side of the pond, isn't too bad either. They don't abuse their staff, at least nobody is aware of that, and their stores are tidy, well-stocked and competitively priced.

Uh Dad....

Although you look very pretty today, something tells me we should avoid the Father's Day breakfast buffet at Golden Corral and eat our meal at home.

Actually Target points out to me...

...how much poorer the 'middle classes' have gotten.

Target is now considered 'nice middle class shopping.'

Target, to me, is a discount chain. Nothing else. I don't see that they sell any products significantly different from those from Xmart where X in {wal, k}
