Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support AutomaticWasher.org:

As reccomended, I have been using "Air-Compressor" oil (NON-detergent) that I have found in both Wal-Mart and the local 'True-Value" hardware store.

Do you see any signs of leaking oil anywhere? Typically, if there are leaks, they occur at the seam of the transmission where the pulley is formed for the upper, spin belt or at the very top of the transmission at the shaft. Steve is right, air compressor oil works well, 26 ounces.

some oil oozed out from up towards the tub when i leaned it forward to replace the belt. Please tell me that that's not an indication of a problem!

baptism by fire...

That's normal - keep the machine at a slight angle when you tip it over to work on it and it won't run out. I used a covered 4x4 to lay the machine on. When you have the cross-brace off, it's also best to support the mechanism with something to keep it from sagging - you don't want to damage the rubber mechanism support.
