How many here know anything about old clocks? Helen took home Uncle Charlie's old mantle clock which belonged in the family for a LONG time. It's very old and made by Sessions, Made in USA. I'll upload pics of it and a video of the mechanism striking the hour.

It works perfectly and is very accurate. All I did was wind it and start the pendulum. It has that classic soothing "tick tock tick tock" sound followed by a not-so-soothing "Bong! Bong! Bong! Bong!", etc. at each hour and one strike for every half hour.

I know nothing you honor.....

Aa a Virgo (I hear "they" like clocks) I have acquired quite a few unusual clocks, quite without neaning too.

I believe if I start collecting in earnest it will be clocks right after washers and stoves!

I gave my wife a Sessions mantle clock like you describe to my wife the 1st Christmas we were engaged. I bought it from an estate/tag sale. Inside, on the door in back, were all the directions are, someone wrote "Purchased 6/17/38". Hopes this helps.

ive kinda always liked clocks too, but never persued it. i had several of the twin-bell alarm clocks as a child.

Ingraham Mantle Clock

I acquired this on July 19 at a thrift shop in Bellingham called Value Village. It will need some TLC, but I feel it will be an awesome clock once again.

Older weight drive and spring drive clocks are cool-never persued them-but do like them.My Mom used to have a Schoolhouse clock-made the loudest TICK-TOCK you ever heard-guess to keep the students in the class awake? It didn't have any bells or chimes.she had another mantle clock that had the chimes.

Mine isn't very loud. The TV drowns out the ticking and the chime isn't very obtrusive either. It's not a cuckoo clock that will make you jump out of your skin when it goes off in the middle of the night.

Cuckoo

I had one from about 10-15 years ago that was made in Germany. Noisy little sucker, but fun to have. Unfortunately, it got lost in the flood.
