Thought there was a thread about fans somewhere, but can't
find it. (At least "fan" is not in the subject.)

So - here are a couple beauties:

Slight mistake - multiple beauties - have to click on the
various links to see more.

Don't drool.

thread about fans

Hey goprog, i had seen this site once before but couldn't remember the name of it. Thanks for putting up the link. He does have some amazing fans. Now if i could just find the one my parents had back in the sixties i'd be happy.. It was a Diehl window fan. Probably one of the best window fans ever made but for some reason i haven't been able to locate one. This think weighed a ton. Mark

I got "lucky". Encountered it while trying to find electrical
standards on power cords for the "Is this safe" iron thread.

I have purchased parts from him!

I found Mr. Hudson through the website for the Antique Fan Collectors Association. I used to be a member, but the $50.00 annual dues were a bit much for my student's budget for now. I collect, and restore, fans and Mr. Hudson is a valuable resource. He is good about providing accurate answers to questions. He also sells hard-to-find fan parts, and if necessary, he will make new parts. Everything I have purchased from him has been of top quality, and he is the first person from whom I buy when I need parts.
In the world of fans, spare parts for models produced before 1950 can be very difficult to find, especially for very rare fans. Making new parts is the only option in many cases. I know there are some people out there who have had to resort to making a few parts for their washers. How long before we start regularly making our own parts and rebuilding Unimatics, WP/KM BD pumps, and 1-18s? I know someone had some rubber parts made awhile ago.
Members of the AFCA host Fan Fairs, not unlike our Wash Ins. Except that instead of washers and dryers, there are fans. The two groups are quite similar. Both have forums, and reading them has taught me a great deal about restoration and operation. Also, check out the info section on the AFCA website. Click on "Restoration & Repair," and you will find information on painting, poliahing, lubrication, maintainance, operation, and repairing. There is also a list of parts vendors. I have purchased lots of parts from Darryl Hudson, a set of brass blades from Jim Chesnut, lots of Vornado parts from Rich Raclawski, and lots of wire from Sundial Wire (www.sundialwire.com). The link at the bottom of my post is the main site for the Antique Fan Collectors Association.
If I can get some pictures reduced, I'll try to post some pics of a few of my fans.

Keep cool and clean,
Dave
