Just like the one I have - an admirable dishwasher for sure. Purge, one wash, two rinses and dry. That reovolving Wall Of Water really is amazing, the sounds of that water smashing away inside the tank, like a Unimatic going into spin - it's breathtaking.

If this is "relatively clean" I wouldn't go near her bathroom.

Let's hope that brown grunge on the racks and bottom of the tub is "just" mold, and not rust!

But don't be too hard on the lady. After all, this was probably the condition it was in when the house was sold. And if the bathroom looked anything like that, it's probably been ripped out and remodeled anyway. As I recall, 50's bathrooms didn't hold up all that well, either.

50's bathrooms

Ha! You are so right about them not holding up - I have a 1952 vintage bathroom - tile on drywall, added shower tile and crumbling floor grout to prove it!

It's strange that the stains in the dishwasher are just in the lower regions of the tank - seems like iron deposits from water left standing maybe?

Could be that the wash arm emitted some rust and the standing water stained the bottom of the tub. But that doesn't explain the staining on the lower rack - too high for standing water in a front loader.

My toploader version developed some rust staining in the sump - probably easy enough to wipe off, but I just leave it as I use the washer periodically when I have too many items to fit into the Bosch.

The pump housing is also cast iron so it can be a source of rust as well.

When I said I hope it's not rust, I meant a rusted tub... lol...
