Had fun seeing Omaha.

Of course besides really nice (and gorgeous) beef-fed poeple..

I had a great time hearing about the breakaway piece of Iowa that wanted to stay Iowa when a river dividing those two states was diverted and re-routed decades ago. (It does kind of look lke a tumor in Iowa over there near the airport- Eppley Field) [Upper right hand corner]

Here is a link to a map of where "The Twin Towers" is in Omaha, maybe just slightly different from what I am [ was *SIGH*] used to .... I think it stand about 6 or 7 stories tall.

The Empire State Building

....another Omaha landmark that stands I believe 3 or 4 stories in height...

is the Empire State Building.. Just another great photo-op...missed.

(Cant find anything on the web about this one.)

Considering I worked on the 78th floor of THE Empire State Buildng, NY NY (out of 102) I just cant help but chuckle.. Sorry no disrespect involved!

Twin Towers Kenmore Connection

I believe that the south "tower" was a Sears until 1960 or so. I know that's where the Sears used to be (until they opened Crossroads Mall), and my Mom told me that they used the Sears building as part of the structure.

Lots of famous people (by Omaha standards) lived in the Twin Towers. The most glamourous was Sally Rosen. She was an older lady had jet black hair that was always extravagantly styled, and she wore lots of makeup. Her husband owned the Rosen-Novak Cadillac dealship, and she did their TV commercials. It would be her in a ballgown, a few cars and a lot of candleabras and chandeliers with organ music in the background. Campy as hell.

Unless things have changed (I haven't lived there for 20 years) there's also a Statue of Liberty in the park that is just to the west of the twin towers :-)

Downtown Omaha was quite the place back in the day. Unfortunately, they've torn a lot of it down - but there are still some great buidlings there.
