Got my official walking papers at work (another Systems Analyst will be available for immediate employment after June 30, 2011) but I also received a bonus and a raise for my last three months of employment. The Maytag (I was one of the first to be snookered by the 3-racker) finally washed its last dish so I visited www.consumerreports.org and looked up the top Best Buy-rated dishwasher.

And here it is:

. . . but that CorningWare Pyroceram dish bottom right came out sparkling after it served as a broiler pan for some sausages.

The middle VISIONS pot cooked up some Cream of Wheat. The other melted some butter-flavored Crisco for a batch of Belgian waffle batter. Both came out squeaky-clean to the touch.

. . . and one of the freebie Cascade Action Paks with a scant tablespoon of TSP.

Congratulations Joe ! Sleek streamlined hidden controls nice, very good machine.

I did a Bobload in one for his approval on my buddies machine I got for them a few years ago.

Bob's is a Kenmore with stainless enterior, All three are energy star sensor wash & purge systems.

I have fun with it when I visit them, but recently since I put the unit in three yrs ago they had a problem with wash pump and

replaced it for a new one over 250.00 they spent but it is a nice unit they like it.

I think Bob does not like the quick wash cycle lol,

But Bob I like it for a quick clean up for prep dishes that are mostly rinsed or need to be put away Immediatly.

Pierre, your dishwasher is different. It has the HE wash system with the filter that has to be cleaned.  The the other machines  (mine, Joe's, and the one Darrin is talking about) have the pump style with the soft food disposer.

No Turbo Zone on mine . . .

. . . so I soak really dirty pots and pans overnight with plain water (amazing cleaner, given enough time) and add them to a full load on the Pots and Pans cycle. Occasionally, I need to finish the job with a little Bar Keeper's Friend, but that's true of hand washing, too.

Joe, I will tell you it has been my observation that when you select smart wash and either sani-rinse or hig-temp wash, either of those options cancel out pretty much the variables established by the smart wash and the sensors.  I pretty much let the Smart Wash do its thing because pretty much if the machine sesnses enough food soil and has to do even one filterr soil purge, it automatically sets it up to at least medium soil level, which is high-temp wash option.  It still befuddles me becaue it can really surprise me at times, but if it's really heavy soil or it senses an extremely heavy loid, then it options for heavy soil which is the high-temp wash as well as the purge turned into an actual full rinse after the main wash phase.  On mne, medium soil yields about a 58 minute main wash.  Heavy soild y8ileds anywhere form 65 to 78 minute main wash.  If for some reason I want to use the sani-rinse, I just go head and select pots pans cycle and the sani-rinse option.  SaniRinse option selected automatically, intrinsekly selects high-temp wash option too, which I wish wasn't always the case.  Sometimess I don't want th4e really long main wash, but do want the 155 degree final rinse.  Light soil on smart wash, it doesn't drain between prewash and start of main wash.  When it pauses to drain, it simply skips that drain and goes into wash with opening the dispenser.  In that case, the wash temp target is like 115 degrees, or maybe 120, and the main wash is like 30 to 35 minutes long.  Then the energysave purge rinse, which is the purge water level fill and a series of 10 seconds spritzes (as I call them) every 30 seconds for 3 mintes and then a shorter than usual drain and then onto the final rinse.  Around my house, it's rare that sequence is selected, but it does happen.

Turbo Zone

Joe, just saw your post.  You would be quite surprised as to just how good this machine does with Pots Pans cycle with thie high-temp option selected.  I don't use my turbo zone very often because it ends up eating up a lot of rack space.  I do see a slight improvement in wash performance, but not alll that much more compared to the option/Pots Pans cycle selected.  I usually also opt for sani-rinse and cool dry in that case just in case something didn't quite get removed.  Doesn't happen often and I don't get all bent out of shape about it.
