My dad put together a stone like that hanging in the back yard along with a wooden plaque containing similar information, except for the tornado part since we don't get them here. His was the "Old Italian Weather Rock."

Old italian weather rock is based on this proverb....

"Al temp, al cu i fan cul ca voer lur" (north-western version)

"Cul, tempo e siori i fà quel che vol lori..." (venetian version)

meaning "weather & butt do what they wanna do ...".

Venetians add rich people (siori) to the list

The volunteers where I work make weather predictors using a braded rope where the verbage is like what you have on the sign, except, The last line "If the rope is gong, someone ripped you off."
