Been There, Done That

Was posted here on the group several weeks back by the seller who one recalls is s member. There was quite allot of noise but aparently no takers in the end.

Nice KA dw but from what one remembers it lacks water heater. Therefore any household considering using this machine would need a decent supply of 120F or better 140F hot water.

Hot Water???

All Superbas had the dual wattage sump heaters which heated the water using the 700 watt sheath heater to raise the temp approx 1.5 degrees a minute and heated the final rinse in the sani cycle to 180 degrees using the total wattage of the sheath heater of 1400 watts. That's what gave these machines that "sizzle" sound when heating.

KA Suberba DWs

They all have water heaters except the first one, the beautiful KDS-14. I rewired my KDS-16 and added a relay so when ever the first 700 watt element is on the relay turns on the second 700 watt element. To do this the DW needs to be on a 20 amp 12 ga circuit. But let me tell you this DW gets the water hot even in the short cycle these machines had. I did this as this DW is in my 2nd house and it is all electric so to conserve power I keep the main water heater at 125 degrees. I have had this 2nd house almost 30 years and it has every appliance reasonably necessary including three built-in DWs and yet the average monthly power bill averages only about $25.00.
