Can anyone honestly say they notice a difference in quality and performance with colour detergents be it powder or liquid when buying an own brand such as CO-OP 'Ultra' for colours compared to Ariel Excel Gel? The prices are so expensive unless not on offer.

Own brand colour detergents

No difference in washing performance, give me own brand colour detergents any day rather than the costly brand named ones.

@ Optima i have tried the Tesco Gel for colours and found it as good Ariel. The frgrance didn't last which i was pleased about too. Never tried Almat powder though i have heard someone mention the Almat powder for whites smells like Ariel used to. Not sure if it was off here or somewhere else.

Tesco colour gel

I love the scent of Tesco Colour Gel & i do find that it lasts but i guess everyone has different opinions on things & as for Almat powders i love the cleaning power & the price of the stuff. The only brand name powder that i love has got to be Daz but i only ever buy it when it's on offer.

Almats detergents are very good, they are lightly fragranced too which I like. Nothing worse than opening the door to remove your clothes which have a heavy disgusting headachy fragrance. I tend to alternate between brands. At the moment I'm using Fairy Powder, Fairy Gel and Persil Bio small and mighty, i buy these when on offer as I refuse to pay the full price for a detergent, I also sometimes buy Daz as its good on the whites.

Almat, Formil, and Asdas detergents I can rate highly :)

The CO-OP is quite good and at £2 for 21 washes thats good value. When the clothes dry there is no scent left behind which is what i like. I can not stand the smell of Persil Colour powder, Colour and Bio Small and Mighty. All 3 too perfumed for me and gives me very bad migraines. Out of the top brands i prefer the smell of Ariel Colour powder or Daz.

I think McBride make most of the supermarket brands so it just boils down to brand marketing. They all contain the same ingredients i was told so probably just paying for the more expensive perfumes and the name.
