Hi, Group,

I have a 1952 Frigidaire Imperial Cyclamatic which I am about to put back to regular use. The inside of the freezer was painted from the factory with a dull silver paint or finish that looks like old silver roofing paint. It is worn off in numerous places and looks ugly. I could try to strip it all off, but I figure it was there for a reason. Does anyone know what sort of paint this was or what to use for a substitute? Thanks! Rex

Really dont think it was painted. It was galvanized. There is cold galvanizing compound in a spray can from Rustoleum. Not the same as the original hot galvanizing but probably the closest thing to it you're going to find. Dont know if its recommended to be near food though.

Hi, saw your post while I was looking for other info. I have one about the same age, 1953 or 1954. The freezer compartment is Anodized aluminum I think. Not sure if there is a good way to paint that.
