This is what the drum of my Westy dryer looks like...rust spots all over..even though the cabinet has zero rust on it..anyone ever paint the inside of a drum, and can it taken apart to make it easier?

Re: Re-Painting Info:

Hi! Jerry "moparwash" if you are able to take the Dryer apart and remove the Drum, you would be able to take the Paddles/Fins out as well.

I will leave more info to others who have done this, but I do know from reading prior Posting, that there is a Powder-Coat Paint like they use on the new/newer Dryer Drums to Paint them with. Someone will also no doubt know what to use for preparation of the Drum, before Painting it again, to attempt to remove as much of the Rust Spots as possible and to carefully prepare the rest of the Finish on the Drum as well.

I hope that this helps you, with your inquiry of how to Re-Paint your Westinghouse Dryer Drum.

My 1955 Westinghouse also had a rusty drum but the outside was just fine. I did take the machine apart and I painted the drum with good, high temperature white Rust-o-leoum paint.

I use the white two-part epoxy paint that is sold near the tubs and sinks at Home Depot. The resin and hardener are inert until mixed so, separately, they keep for a very long time which allows you to use however much you need depending on the size of the job. Once mixed, you can apply the first coat, cover the container in which you mixed the paint and it will stay good for a second coat. The only place I have had this paint wear off is on the edge of the bulge by the heat inlet grill on the rear bulkhead of WP-made dryers. It is also great for touching up rusted or corroded areas inside washer cabinets and outer tubs and to repair chips in dishwasher tanks. I am going to use it after I sand and prep the rusted area in the sump of the Kenmore Dual Tumble.
