Philips Stand Mixer 60's ?

Why did I pick up this mixer? Because it's metal and has a nifty little 15 minute clockwork timer and bell built into the stand as well as a bowl adjust lever like a Sunbeam. Thank goodness that bell is loud because the beaters chatter, seems to be the design as they look undamaged, maybe they're quiet with something mixing away in the bowl. Here I thought all Philips was built in Holland but this is built in the USA. I'm only guessing it's 60's as it's not plastic, anyone seen one before?

Aside from the mixer above I also got this 70's, maybe early 80's Philips 14 speed blender. Plastic-Chrome and plastic base with decorative vegetables and cocktail glass motifs around the spindle area. Heavy glass jar. It appears as close to MIB as you're going to get, Instrx booklet and extra jar seals included. Is MOL as the TOL has a timer and 16 speeds so the instrx book sez..dang.

super cool Philips machines.Very interesting-the beaters of the Philips mixer sorta resemble the ones on older HB machines.The sight of these machines is making me hungry-time for lunch here at work!

The mixer was manufactured by Hamilton Beach

I have a friend who has an identical mixer to the one pictured except it says Hamilton Beach instead of Phillips

Phillips Mixer...

I don't know who came first - Hamilton Beach or Phillips - but my parents recieved a HB mixer that looks EXACTLY like the one pictured, but in chrome finish. This would have been in 1960 -( and before you ask - it was a second marriage - ok...)
The motor assembly slides off it's support and can be used as a hand mixer - but it's weight is a bit much to heft about for very long. A couple of minutes and your arm was worn out ! The bowls were stainless steel .

I had only limited experiance with this machine - but the most memorable event was spending an entire afternoon looking for the little nylon " tire " that causes the bowls to rotate... Dumb me - after it had cleared the dishwasher - I noticed that there was only ONE " tire " on the beater assembly - looked high and low for the other one in the DW, even took the drain pump apart thinking it might be lodged there somehow.... Finally , in desperation got out the book that came with the mixer - where it clearly pictured only ONE
"tire " on the beater assembly ! DUH !!

The mixer survived some 30 years of use/abuse and was finally given to a relative when I was closing out the estate... I presume it is still in use. I bought a Kitchen Aid shortly after moving out of the house - and am still using it 40 years later.

Well who'd have thunk it

A rebadged HB mixer. I don't know of any connection between HB and Philips who are a small player over here in N.America other than their Philishave and Norelco shavers

Upon second look of the Philips blender-the container looks like the ones provided with HB blenders.I would have to bet the Philips blender was built by HB as well.It looks like a very nice machine.And unused at that.

Funny to see the Philips logo on so typical styled American appliances. Overhere in the Netherlands we never got that style of appliances.

I'm wondering then

If these rebadged HB appliances were made for US export to Canada only. Would make sense if they were trying to expand their N.American market and name beyond shavers to try it out on a smaller scale first in Canada which is essentially similar to the US market. That's what Mercedes is doing right now with their SMART cars where I recently read they've decided that they are not going to expand it to the US. They mustn't be making such a good hit in Canada they know it won't sell there either. And they've saved themselves a lot of money.
