Phosphate Based EcoLab Laundry Detergent

This is the commercial Ecolab detergent have been speaking about in my posts. It is mainly phosphate, washing soda and surfactant,but it cleans quite well. Low foaming and VERY concentrated.

Designed for use in Ecolab's dispenser system, but my posts on this matter have discussed how I use it.

I was able to wheedle a couple of free samples from the guy at the community college where I work: I got an Eco-Lab powdered detergent with bleach(very HEAVY product and very expensive) which I love--cleans very well, produces very little suds and has a nice subtle scent. I also got an Eco-Lab powder with an enzyme additive (half the weight and half the price) also seems to clean well and has an inoffensive slight scent. Pity they won't market them to retail clientele. I'll try to remember to get the marketing names of the products next time I'm there.

Have my own case of the stuff, and while it is a good detergent, it also is very basic. One can "see" the suspended oils and muck in the wash/rinse water as it drains into the wash tub. Unlike modern enzyme detergents which seem to digest such grime, the Ecolab product does a pretty good job of removing oily dirt, but merely keeps it suspeneded (one hopes) in the wash water to be rinses away.

My main gripe with the product is it contains NPE surfactants, which have been banned in Europe and are considered cancer causing agents.

Believe it or not, the stuff makes a great detergent for cleaning things such as automobiles and even the filter plates from my air cleaner.

Do you have an "EcoLab Solid Detergent Activator" as the description mentions? I've seen these solid block products for the commercial dishwashers, but I have no idea how they work.

What are you talking about?

No, do not have the dispenser, nor do I wish one though they can be found easily enough.

For commercial machines Ecolab hooks up the system to washing machines so it can both dispense product or products and receive signals from the machine and receive signals when to do so.

Basically the dispensers mix the correct portion of product (calibrated by Ecolab), with hot water then send it down to the machine.

Sorry, I thought all three posts were yours! It's proabably all the "s"'s in the names and the wee hour...

I figured the dispensers were dissolver-type, what with all the hoses. Have you ever heard of a product called "Pardon"? They had a sample and a bucket of the stuff once at one of my commercial accounts - so I had a sample and loved it. 1/8 cup in soft water with whites was amazing. It was phosphate, enzyme and worked just as well with warm water as hot.

okay, the way in which Ecolab products dispense is the product is placed upside down in a chamber. When the dishwasher calls for it, it squirts water into this container witha jet directly up into the container of product, it then flushes down into the machine through a pipe, the dispensers are timed. i worked in a kitchen using a Hobart commercial dishwasher for years, we never used anything but Ecolab products.

Ecolab Products

are known and used the world over .. They are in every country.. However most of their products are ment for use in machines that are S.s. and most products will damage anything else. Our rep is here evry Monday am and is Always on call they have given us supurb service for over 30 years and product produce gleaming white work at a very resonable cost. While we also use PG and some of the others E L is what we mainly use the Pic shows about a weeks supplies of chemicals. Our E L account last year run over 40,000.00 X this my the millions and millions of accounts they have world wide and think of the billions of dollars they do each year!

You've got the "good stuff", *LOL*.

Much of the Ecolab stuff one sees being auctioned/sold off are the old basic products, read: high alkaline, phosphate ontaining and several other chemicals that are either now restricted or banned even for commercial laundry use in many areas.

While those products do work, there are more "modern" choices from Ecolab that are the commercial equalivent of "Tide" in that they are top shelf detergents. Again while I love the Ecolab stuff in my stash, the difference in what comes out in the wash water in striking. With the Ecolab product fats/oils/soils are only held in suspension but look like soap "crud" one finds when being really flilty and taking a soapy bath. With modern detergents like Tide or Persil, the wash water is "soapy" with no visable crud. Probably because the enzymes in these products have done their jjob and digested all that crud. Mind you long as the curd is kept in suspension and washed away from laundry, suppose the former is just as good as the later.

You are right on as usuall, We have tried many many products here and the difference in the water in the trough is unbleliveable sometimes , while the others do a good job in a different way E L always seems to do better in the long run.. both for Qulaity (which I demand at any cost)and for cost ..
