And it has been repainted... wonder if pink was the original color, or a change that someone creating a look made through a repaint/recolor. They don't mention working status, at that price it should be fully functional including the often not functional automatic burner...

Well she is pretty to look at and I am glad that you posted so that we could see it, and hey, best of luck to the seller! It's a pretty stove especially in color.

The ebay description says that it has been repainted... since the original porcelain finish was very durable, that could mean that it was very used and tired or damaged, or that they wanted to do a color change to 50s pink. The photos look good but I would want to check that out in person, especially at their price!

Remember the $1.98 Beauty Contest?

Speaking of all it should do for that price, does anyone remember the General Electric Theater on television? They used to show experimental appliances because "Progress Is Our Most Important Product." One such product in the early 60s was a meal system with a freezer that had coded sections for frozen casseroles. There was some transportation chamber that connected the freezer to the oven. There was a keypad that they punched in the location in the freezer and the time and temperature and the machine moved the casserole from the freezer to the oven. They showed the set up at the start of the hour-long show and started the casserole cooking. By the end of the show, the casserole was all cooked, but the whole thing was the equivalent of culinary and primitive computer-like showing off. It was not a practical invention. It was huge and when you consider the energy efficiency of the freezer and the oven there was no practicality to it, but it made for a GEE WHIZ presentation of industrial masturbation.
