One of my earliest memories is of my grandparents old shed by the house where the washer and dryer was. They had a Kenmore like the 24" set of Whirlpools pictured. I recalled later that I though it strange that they were so narrow and seemed to still hold a whole load of clothes. They looked much like the ones pictured.

With the Red marbled Bakelite agitator. Those looked so good to me.

I had forgotten about those red ones. I do always remember the caps with the 3 little fins on top that both Whirlpool and Kenmore had in the beginning. Whirlpool made chrome ones like those for the TOL machines too. At some point, long down the line, Whirlpool actually made a few clear plastic agitators too. I remember seeing those.

IMO The plain Whirly/Kenmo straight-vane agitator of that era was a great and aggresive agitator. The cap with the little ears was so vintage Kenmo to me. I like to put the chromium cap off of my '58 Imperial time-line Surgilator and put it on the Red plain straight-vane. Looks cool, especially in a frog-eye. Of course, the Surgilator was straight-vaned as well, just something about the plain ones I like.

I would love to see a clear one. Must have been pretty rare.

I remember seeing those at a house in Lake Placid.

And I thought pressing that Whirlpool emblem on the front of the washer and the lid popped open was so cool. Not to mention the lighted backsplash and cycle dial.

That house also had a KD-12 and a ISE disposal. That was the first time I ever loaded a KD-12 and ran a disposal.

Good Times for me at 11 years old.
