This Norge washer was at the beginning of the race to have the largest capacity machine on the market. I know that Westinghouse soon came out with their own version and then Franklin made one along with others. This same tub increased in claimed capacity up to 20 pounds in the years to come. The lint filter you see here was replaced with one that mounted at the upper back side of the opening for the tub like Westinghouse would do with the top loader they manufactured later. I think Norge had infringed on the patent GE had for the FF by having a pan that fit atop the agitator and a pump system that recirculated the water through it. Later on, as most remember, the filtering system was built into the agitator like the solid tub machines used to have and the filter pan returned to sit atop the agitator. This design of washer really did a very good job of cleaning and extracting water from the clothes. It was noisy though and did promote more linting than most from the rigorous way it washed. It did improve in dependability from the solid tub machines.

There was a craigs list ad with a slightly lower model (I think in North Carolina) that you could see the recirculating spigot like what you see in this ad.  This was several years ago.  That's the ONLY one I've ever seen.  In fact, until I saw that one unit, I thought what was show here was a version that never made it to market.  Our Norge15 bought December 1964 had the Westinghouse-type of filter system as described above.
