Talk about your dream washer & dryer set.... I have personally only seen 1 Apex washing machine in my 60 years of existence. That one was in a junkyard I frequented and had been sitting for some time, since it was rusted and and looked weathered. It was the same model that Robert has. So these machines must not have been popular or abundant in my area of the country. They did seem to be attractive machines with eye appeal and certainly put on quite a show for you when operating. Too bad there are so few around, but the same can be said for many of the things from yesteryear....

They were fun to watch. It didn't get too far into the wash cycle before most of the water was splashed over-board, from that point on the clothes just flopped around. I wonder how brittle those fiberglass tubs have become over time? Hate to have to try to track one down.

My Fiberglas tub is in beautiful condition thankfully. It's a wonderful washer and the design could easily be made into a high efficiency machine as it needs very little water in the bottom of the tub to thoroughly scrub the clothes. It's also a very gentle washer overall. It is many in many ways like a front loader as it can turn over a large load of clothes without any water in the tub.
