Were the machines with the lint filter as splashy as those without one? Was the lint filter fed from underneath like a Norge Burp-O-Lator?

The model granny was given included a filter pan. Filtering presumably was via splash-over/in from agitation. No evidence of a burpilator-type pumped fountain unless that part was not functioning.
Thank you, Glenn. Sounds like where GE got their idea for the passive filtration in their dishwashers.
Looks like those appliances (washer and dryer) are Kelvinator, much like how Gibson laundry appliances were once branded as Easy...

yea i think the lint was supposed to splash over and into the filter. it sounded like a good idea but anytime i tried it i trapped any lint
That was granny’s model. There was a flat chrome disc with hooks that locked into the key slots on top of the agitator cap. It didn’t have any obvious function except maybe to divert a water jet I thought should be pumping up through the agitator into the filter … but there is/was no fountain so maybe the chrome disc was just decorative?
