Polictical Corrrrrectness Anyone?

I know the age must really differ on this web site but I was wondering that if you look back on your life in general, what would the 3 biggest changes be in the public's awareness of things or as they call it "polictical correctness?" My 3 biggest that I'm aware of are as follows...
1. Attitude towards smoking or tobacco as a whole it seems with Obama, except for "big" cigars.
2. Child/spousal abuse, when I was growing up, it was not heard of to discuss what went on in the home outside of the home.
3. Abuse of drugs, mainly prescription. It is almost accepted in some places to just come up and ask pretty much anyone if they are "holding" Lortabs or Vicodin or marajuana. Here, most of the police department have marajuana issues in their own families. Marajuana just isn't demonized like it once was. Once dubbed to be the gateway drug to harder drugs of abuse, now it is dubbed to be a miracle drug by some. Maybe so but that would be good for Circle K and Sonic drive in stock wouldnt it? Thanks in advance for your input, I'm sure I will be fascinated as usual by my answers.

Not sure what you mean by #1. Public attitude toward smoking has definitely changed, but as far as Obama goes, he smokes cigarettes. I read a news story about a week ago that said he feels obliged to step outside on the patio when he smokes. Being president, he does this out of consideration for others, not because he has to.

He HAS to since Hillary Clinton proposed and passed a "No Smoking in the White House" Bill back in the 90's.

When he's out back puffing on a cig, I sure as hell hope he's thinking of a quick, legal way to pay back the 1.8 trillion he's burned through in just 3 months of being a President

There was no bill. It was simply an executive order from President Clinton (not Hillary), which GWB voluntarily kept in place. Obama is free to change or cancel this order if he wishes.

What's the big deal about a plant? How many people have developed a disease from it NO ONE. I think the liquor companies are against it being legal because the sales would drop by 30%. Before anyone answers...

These fascinating questions, remember that this is an open site and there are people reading this site who will report your answer to the cops or your company.

1) Smoking: Here in Germany, smoking in cafés and public places has only become un-cool recently. As a non-smoker, I'm thankful for this. The near hysterical "your second hand smoke is killing me phase" hasn't hit here yet.

2) Women and children have only enjoyed the same protected status as dogs and cats since the 1990s. I fear that violence is a universal problem and am glad it is more openly discussed.

3) We no longer prosecute small amounts of marijuana although it technically remains illegal. The next step will be taxation. The various hemp products and foods and medicines are available here and well received.

4)Political correctness has a very bad image in my book - having less to do with protecting minorities from harm and more to do with double-plus hive speak. Resistance is futile...

Oh PALEEZE!....we all know WE wanted President Clinton to get out of office and take HER husband with her!

people take things out of context and control sometimes, OUR FREEDOM is slowly being stripped from us....

it's comming to: don't look at me, sit next to me, cover my eyes and ears, oh the horror!....

smoker's don't bother me one way or the other, i'm probably offended with a chain smoker in a tight spot with out consideration, thats kinda abusing the right, but where do you draw the line, it's supposed to be equal for everyone, they politely ask do you mind if I smoke?, but didn't state that i'm gonna light every one with the butt of the last!

ARE you offended if:

you go to 7ELEVEN and there's a guy in there who's BUILT with no shirt on?...how about a fat smelly slob?

go to a laundromat, and a guy or girl is folding their unmentionables, brief or boxers?...should you do this in the privacy of our home?

what about my rights?...to view a hot guy on the beach in a speedo....to imagine the guy in the laundry wearing the CALVIN's he's folding....where do you draw the line?

it just seems if one person out of millions is OFFENDED the the rest of the world should be too! this can be argued till were blue in the face...but just seems like more is being taken away from us everyday without our consent, to a point that these people are running our lives but not paying my bills....sounds like I'm 15 and living at hime with mom and dad....

Not all changes are for the better? or the good of all!...just a select few!...but thats my opinion!

Now that you mention it -

I think Clinton - either/both are enormously patriotic Americans in the good sense.

Obama is a very good president she Hillary would have been different, but equally brilliant.
