We sent our 1958 GE 40" Liberator's cooktop (<----pictured in the avatar) to Custom Ceramics of Lentzville IL for all new porcelain in GE's Canary Yellow. We had been quoted $175 to renew it last Spring and finally were able to get the stove apart and ship it out. We paid $50 to ship, and confirmed delivered by FedEx tracking several weeks ago. No attempts at contact have been successful: 3 phone calls and 3 eMails have gone unreturned. Has anyone used this service before, or know if they've gone out of business due to covid??
It'd be very disturbing to lose this original 63 year old part.

These were the people ....

back in March 2018, told me that they had a 1.5 year waiting list before they could even begin to do my washing machine top and lid.

I used IPE instead and they had it done in 10 weeks.

Sorry to hear this, hope you can get your part(s) back.

Look ......

At their Facebook page. Lots of happy customers and pictures of their work. I had 3 items done and they did a great job. Ask for Jeff Gaylord, owner.

I have to ask since you typed it three times... Did you actually ship your cooktop to "Lentzville"? Because Custom Ceramic Coatings is in Lenzburg...

burg ... ville...

tomato... tomatoh... let's call the whole thing off! LOL
Writing from memory which obviously was faulty.

It was shipped to the correct address in Lenzburg IL and verified delivered there by FedEx, as mentioned.

OK then, anyone considering Custom Ceramic Coatings of Lenzburg IL: STAY FAR AWAY!

At least until further notice.

Nearly 2 years ago I sent an antique housing for a chiclets vending machine to be recoated in ceramic coating. I have confirmation it was received and was informed it was next in line and would be completed in about 6 weeks. Nearly 2 years later it has not been completed. I have made numerous phone calls and left numerous voice mails with no response. I have sent even more emails because the voice mailbox was full and could record new messages. I now just want my machine housing returned and have left numerous messages and numerous emails requesting the immediate return. Again NO RESPONSE. I am looking for resolution and return of my property. Can the BBB help me resolve this issue>

Sent $1000 Viking range burner and cap set to this business. They do not respond to emails and their phone box is full. I’m out $1000.

I sent the parts (~$500) to the business to have a ceramic coating applied. Since that time, they do not acknowledge emails nor answer the phone. The parts (Viking Rangetop grates) are gone and I have no way of getting them back. I spent $500 to get new ones.

Thank you.

At a certain point someone has to have engaged law enforcement with this, right?

It's still your property, handing it of for service and not getting it returned in due time should classify as theft, basically.

Make sure you keep a verified copy of the proof of delivery.

Wait a couple of weeks, and then just ask at your local police station.
Usually they can make a call to that local police station and they'll just show up and ask some questions.

That's usually more than enough to get them to do something.

Good info...

so we filed a complaint with BBB, but not expecting much at this point.

At least I was able to find another cooktop, fortunately, from a '57 40" GE in Woodtone Brown (horrible color lol) parts range that was only an hour away, so that will go to IPE and the show will go on. At the same time was also able to get the entire "floating" control pod/panel from that range, yielding a lot of desirable spare parts, so in some respects a positive development resulting from an initially negative experience.

R'uh R'oh...

that's not good news Cory! I'm not ready to ship out yet but will check it out. Does seem odd though, as it's quite a common color and GE is maybe the most common vintage range.

Are there alternatives??
No word from CCC, doubt there will be at this point, if so will let the group know.
