Going back to check the 1963 Westinghouse washer/dryer brochure that I bought on here, I saw that they state that the finish on these is 'Porcelux'.

Does anyone here know exactly what that is? Obviously the impression they wish is for people to assume that's a proprietary name for porcelain, but is it?

Nope.  Westinghouse never had laundry machines with all-porcelain cabinets.  The paint or finish name was definitely meant to lead the consumer to believe it might have been a kind of porcelain finish, but it was more like an epoxy or enamel.

I still have the tag on my 1951 Kenmore washer proudly stating the cabinet was finished in "Epon" - I'm sure I've seen that name on other washer cabinet finishes, too.
