I just bought a Lay-z-boy recliner. They offered the fabric protectant, but I passed it up. What about good old Scotch Guard? Would you use it on a new piece? Opinions please! Thank you!

It's all in the concentration. The product a dealer provides is much more concentrated. Usually a good deal when purchased with the upholstery because it sure is cheap insurance.

I guess they reformulated because it was back on the market when I went looking for it.

A friend told me she uses it on table cloths after they are ironed. They do not get dirty; spills just bead up. Of course, you have to have a large area that you can cover with plain paper to lay out the cloth and then be careful in spraying so the spray does not drift and make a slippery area on the floor.

WHITEKINGD, there is a product called "Vectra" and it is available on line. It is specifically used for furnishings and for many years was only available "to the trade" for interior designers and the like. I recently used the product on some dining room chairs and have used it over the years with very good results. There was a comparison between Scotchguard and Vectra and the Vecrta formulation was better than the Scotchgard protectant. Of course this might have been an "in house" test, but none the less, Vectra was the product used by many manufacturers at the factory thus allowing the merchant to offer the insurance.
