Was looking at the new Miele 120 volt rotary ironer. How suitable is such a machine for ironing dress shirts? I am sure it would be brilliant for flat items (sheets, table linens, etc) but am curious how difficult/easy it would be to do men's dress shirts.

Any thoughts?

Only tried ironing shirts on a Thorglad iron (small portable ironer), and quickly decided it was better to do them by hand.

Results were fine, just not what one would wish.

Others love using ironers, Miele or another brand for doing shirts, and report great results. It just takes practice and coordination in movements.

If the only thing you wish to iron are shirts and perhaps small flatwork such as pillow cases and the like, unless you are getting a great deal on the Miele, I'd look at a good vintage Ironrite, or other ironer.

Personally having used both top feeding and under feeding ironers, perfer the under feeding for better control of ironing. Also Ironrite's two open ends make ironing many types of garments much easier than the Miele type.
