I work @ a local VFW part time and we are in need of a tank heat element for a Hobart AM9-T2. About a 1971 model I belive. The electrical specs on the machine are 240/60/3 Any clue where I could find one. Thanks, Nick.

What a Great Machine. 48 second wash, 5 second dwell, 10 second rinse. Love those Cast Iron Wash Arms (They called them Ni-Resist back then) Check the upper wash arm for rotatiom. Behind the Temp Gauges is a Ball Bearing Mount Assembly. I used to put some grease in there just to keep in free.

Yeah! We got your parts!
Nick,
The element and gasket for your machine are still available from your local Hobart Office.
The element part number is 287591-5 which is 5kw 230v 3 phase list is 390.25
the element gasket is 067036 and you will need just 1. list is 2.70
They don't make a 240v element as it is very rare to have actual 240 volt available anywhere in the US these days.
I am sure that this will suit your need for many more years especially that the machine is not used daily for long periods of time.
The element is bolted to a cast iron mounting plate inside the tank with 4 stainless steel screws which should come out. They may need some gentle coaxing so dont wail away on them at first. Just make sure that you take the bolts that hold the element flange to the mounting block out. If all comes out well, I strongly suggest that you chase out the old threads where the bolts came out which will make reinstalling them easier.
The bolts are 5/16-18 x 1" hex head stainless steel
Lock washers are 5/16 stainless steel.
So get a 5/16 x 18 BOTTOM TAP(must be a bottom tap) and clean those threads first.
Buying the hardware locally will be cheaper than getting it at Hobart.
That should get you going

It doesnt really take that much to keep that vintage machine going. Just go easy on those rocker switches as they are very long gone!

Thanks again Steve I found the part I needed I just have to make the repair. I also had to put a pump discharge gasket in my AM-14 at my main job. Not fun wrangling that massive pump and motor assembly around next to the booster heater.
