Christmas again!!

Hi Mark

What a hawl, just goes to show what you can find when you keep searching..

The Dishamatic is pristine, love the westy , is it just the one control??

The Thor is the same that Keith (Keymatic) restored last year in UK, his was much worse with rust and managed to get it all shiny & working so there is hope.

Enjoy, Mike

The little Westinghouse dates from around 1956 when copper-colored anodized aluminum trim became popular. I have seen magazine ads for this beauty in aqua with copper trim and the combination is so bright that it looks like it is glowing. This little machine could be used with casters (and a Brake) to be portable. If you ever wanted to build it in under the counter, the timer dial was removed from the top then the top removed and the timer positioned so that it was possible to have the dial on the front with the shaft connecting it to the timer in the back like in Space Mates. This had most of the negatives of the first Space Mates like the water did not enter the tub directly and spray the load, but filled into the top side of the outer tub. I had the opportunity to examine one of these at a rebuilt appliance clip joint in Atlanta in 1975.

The Apex looks like the very first model. I believe that is the one that only gives one rinse, but CU said that its washing performance improved if it was set to give a second rinse.

QUITE A HAUL

Real Great finds - I love the Westy and the Maytag DW. I knew someone with this type of DW - cleaned real well but Noisy.
Best Of Luck!
Peter

Mark ... FANTASTIC!! Wow ... you are going to have a great time with these!! That Apex is really something, as are the Maytag's.

I'm just amazed at what is still available out there!!

CONGRATULATIONS!!

Hi Mark, WOW, this is a WONDERFUL haul! Oh that Apex Dishwasher looks fabulous! Let me know if you need some assistance, but if its never been used it shouldn't have many problems. Keep us posted. It would be great if you could scan the owners manual and send the electronic file to me put in the club cyber-library sometime.

That's two Apex Dishwashers in two years. Could an Apex Wash-A-Matic be coming next?

Congrats on the awesome haul! I love that little Westy. Neighbors had that same machine when I was a kid. My mom had a 56 slant front Westy with the same copper colored control dial.

Darn!, good finds there! One wonders how large items like those DWs can be just stashed away for about half a century, brand new, without being noticed and "disposed of" in a building renovation or something.

I'll bet your Apex DW racks will clean up nicely; that looks like surface rust, which might be scoured off with fine steel wool. Question is, would the rust recur if the machine is used, even if steps are taken to assure the racks dry out fast?

the westinghouse.

I was wondering if thats the same westinghouse that shows up from time to time on the POD, that had some type of rod that brought the control to the front, for an undercounter installation? thanks, arthur.

Way to go Mark!

Great finds! The dishwashers look to be from a "time warp"
Why are vintage dishwasher found very few months that have never been used,or even installed? Too bad we can't find any "MIB" vintage automatic washers! Or has anyone ever?

I remember a couple threads where somone here got a turquoise Lady Kenmore that was still in the crate and another got an old coin op front loader. Don't remember the details though. I'm sure someone here will enlighten us.
