Ran into a Rainbow Model "D" the other day-George got it as a trade in toward a new TriStar. Its a real cool machine.Has an all metal hard floor tool and a metal carpet tool-It has a crevice tool and a ulpholstry tool.Works pretty well-Like the "Rexaire" on the gold dome of the machine. Will need to clean its seperator. It came from a customer 80 years old.Its a beautiful machine. It was built in the days before powernozzles. Its vintage floor tools also fit my E2-cool using them with it.Work better than the plastic ones.Have to play with it more-its pretty neat-perfect 50's memerabilia!George brought it over while I was watching some 1950's Mickey Mouse club episodes.

How cool! If you have the gold dome one that says "Rexair", that is the original of that design, introduced in 1955 and made til about 1960. Enjoy! I have a complete chrome top model D that I don't think has ever been used more than once or twice.

Scott:Mine is the one that has the gold colored metal dome with "Rexaire" on it-its pretty neat and powerful.I am also looking for a "Chrome Dome" D machine-I beleive it was these that Rexaire-Rainbow introduced their powernozzle.Just have the motor power dome from a chrome dome machine-but not the other parts-Got it from the Local Rainbow dist. They and others are trying to help me find one. Before the 1999 Floyd flood here there was an old vac shop that got flooded out-the former owner said he had several of them.also my machine has a metal gold colored caster base. Now keep it with my new E2.

Rexaire!

My grandma had one of the chromedome Rainbiows but I dont know the model. It always worked great, and when she passed away my uncle in Memphis, who works for Bell Comm. and has always been a gadget guy, inherited it. What I really wanted to add is since your so into vac`s Rex why isn`t your handle Rexaire! Just kidding! You guys are the greatest!

I beleive the "chrome Dome" Rainbows were a D-1 model. The earlier one was a "D"(gold dome-no PN)I can vaguely remember a friend of ours that had a Chrome Dome Rainbow.Would like to look 'em up and see if they still have it-last saw it over 30yrs ago-they were using it as the main vacuum. It had a PN.Other Rexaire machines I would like to have are the "B" and "C" models.Used one at one time in my brothers trailer home when he was in premed school. Was fun to use-Used it every weekend to vacuum his place.Dumpted its container in the gutter outside. Was amazing the amount of dirt it picked up.Turned the water to mud!It didn't have a PN.
