Just pray the pump doesn't start leaking once water is in the tub and it's running. Been there, done that.

Yes, these pumps usually require complete overhaul/servicing before use. Of course, you could always water test it first, but due to their age, chances are it would need attention.
I recently acquired a model 30WP for spare parts, and have completely overhauled the pump. Good to have a spare on hand, either for myself, or a potential buyer.
