tranny rebuild
In a few days, I'll start on final dis-assembly of the transmission. All leaking is from the main pulley shaft, immediately under it, top of case, then it drips all over that end of the trans.
If anyone wants to start advising on their favorite automotive liquid gasket material, what transmission oil to buy, rebuild kits/seals/washers/springs/various PN's, I'll gladly listen. And I'll be posting and taking photos as I go along.
Also, once it's open, what fluid do I soak all the items in for cleaning? And clean with an old toothbrush or wire brush or what? I'm new to this, it's a 52 year old machine, and I want to get it right the first time. Famous last f%$&ing words, eh?

WP MARK-12 WASHER
Mark that appears to be the original transmission for that year machine, it does have a newer style agitator shaft post 1964 so has been apart at least once. I would be happy to help advise on the rebuild but I don't spend much time in front of the coumpter, so I will Email you contact information if want to ask any questions.

Oil is medium dark brown, color comes thru well in pics, thank god not black. consistency is very like honey

the only leak has been from immediately under the main belt pulley, the shaft is lightly scored right where it fits in the sleeve, but the sleeve is less scored. The only "seal" seems to be the washer and ring near the top of the gear/splines.

also, both the agitator shaft coming out of the transmission, and the spin tube sitting atop the brake/tub drive yoke------both have a pretty clean coating of light gold oil, no sign that water and detegent had been hitting them for years, so I am guessing that new seals on these old parts should be fine?
Where they actually contact the rubber seals, it's darker and thicker gunky oil, but the mian shaft lengths look like they've never seen detergent/water

agitator-----picture sucks, but 90% of shaft came out covered lightly in clean golden oil, only very top shows rubber wear/thicker goop

Do these balls come off the shaft for re-painting? Or do I leave them assembled, clean up and de-rust and repaint best I can while assembled?
