I found out about the 3-Rack Taller-Tub Dishwasher being introduced and when it came available, the Dealer that I bought my Dishwasher thru, told me about the Taller-Tub 2-Rack being available then as well. When both Models arrived, I noticed for my needs that the 3rd Rack wasn't worth the space that it took up, as indicated in one of the Thread's of this Posting, rather than allowing more space in the Lower 2-Rack Model.

My Model had a Retro-Fit Repair of having the Wiring Harness being replaced, because of a possible Fire Hazard. It is real interesting about the more recent purchases I've made of Maytag Washer's, Dryer's and Dishwasher's have all had something go wrong with them. Even my Neptune Gas Dryer has to have the Inner Door Panel replaced, because it has developed a crack on the Upper-Right side of the Panel and the Door Gasket where the ends meet at the Lower-Center of the Panel keep falling out on the Left Side, so I have to make sure until they get the new Panel and Gasket that the Tabs of the Gasket are in the Panel Slots, to give the proper sealing of the Inner-Door Panel to the Frame at the Drum Opening.

Cost recoup?

Geez, from what I've heard from various people, Maytag seems to have tossed their tried-and-true designs in the trash, in favor of adopting Norge's designs...which are, I'm guessing, more inexpensive to produce (I suppose one downside of designing long-lasting products is that your product replacement cycle becomes less predictable...).

It seems like Norge is remaining true to their history, designing innovative products that just don't hold up...

What a shame!

The only products made by Maytag today that originated from Norge are Altantis & Performa washers & dryers. Amanas designs play a much bigger role in the current model line up.
All SxS fridges, most ranges, and a lot of the laundry is from Amana. BTW, "tried and true" is good but only if it sales. The classic helical drive washer is almost gone now, due not only to cost of production but because for the price it could not compete with larger tub machines. Believe me, most of the time my customers will choose a $399 plastic tub Amana or Norge design over the $449 classic.
