hi there. I have never make a thread before in this section of the forum but then i thought i wanted to share this stuff so here comes...

My grandparents have some relatives that are 80 years + and live like me, my family and grandparents in Karlskrona, which is a quite big city in Blekinge. The relatives lives in a very small town called Rödeby that belong to Karlskrona.

The relatives have had an very big and very old house they have lived in for many years. The house has a total of 9 rooms plus toilets and such so you can guess its big. It has 3 floors in total. Because the relatives are so old they felt they couldnt fix the house in a good way so they decided to move to a retirement home that is placed in central Karlskrona.

However someone must empty the house forst and that and they couldnt do it themself. So i and another relative got a question some week before christmas if we could help empty their house and throw alot at the local dump. Sure enough i said yes to helping them. Because of corona i havent met them very much 2020 and 2021 and only at my grandparents place when met them.

So there i was around 14 december 2021 and get into the house. The house is built around 1941 so its very old.

In the first picture we see the hall in the entre. Its ok looking. I already smelled mold in the house so not a good thing. The hall had a small toilet also that i didnt took photo of because it just looked boring.

Second and third picture is from a study room we see little of the entrence at picture 1 (The room beside the nearest door) We see the wall is looking a litle strange...

It want much that was saved from this room. The computer, The vinyl player, the lamp on the desk and the paintings were the only thing they wanted to save from this room.

Then we move on to the kitchen. One feature here is that on the roof the paint have started to come off. Not sure why but it doesnt look right. You can easily see this one picture 1.

One other thing is that this house has an really old portable dishwasher. Its from the end of 60´s or maybe early 70´s. Sadly it doesnt work at all.

The kitchen has though a pretty new Fridge freezer and a rather new stove with also quite new kitchen fan. The rest of the interior is obviosly old.

One other strange feature in this kitchen is that it has an dump hatch. I,ve never seen that before in a kitchen. You can see it on picture 2. They showed the cellar where the collector is and its basically an garbage bag under there to collect the garbage. Sadly never took picture of it.

Not much was saved from the kitchen because they wanted to buy new house hold stuff at Ikea Kalmar. Kalmar is around one hour car trip so pretty close.

One thing i forgot to mention in the pictures from the kitchen is the small cash box seen in photo 1 from the kitchen. It doesnt hold money but lots of saw needles, Pins and other stuff you use when sewing clothes and stuff. The woman in the relatives used to sewing much but has stopped doing it the last two years approx.

Next photos is from a hallway and another hall. On the first picture we see that the walls looks kinda odd. Theres clearly some discoloration going on here. Only the clothes were saved here.

In next picture we see the hall going into next room. The living room. Only 1 painting was saved from this hall.

so.. then we come to the living room. We see that it has lights that looks like Crystal Chandeliers at the ceiling. Lots of very old furnitures also. Some pink sofa and rather new two lamps standing at the backside of the sofa.

Also very old books in bookshelf and some old pictures of old relatives no longer living and other stuff. Only the TV, Sofa and the two newer lamps were saved from this room. On two of the picres we also see the entrance to a finer diner room. That room has MANY problems i can tell you right now.

On the last picture we also see a toilet paper roll in the sofa and an old type of reading glasses.

The room can be closed with an odd type of sliding door. Its only this room and the finer dining room that has this feature.

The hall in the next two pictures are quite near the finer dining room with all the mold, that we are going to see soon. The walls are in in not good condition in this hall. Nothing was saved from this hall.

The room with a key is to a rather small bathroom. Nothing cool to see there.

Near the kithchen though is a "Master" bathroom and that looked cool. We have a bathtub here The tiles are as seen kinda red. An odd colour in a bathroom in my opinion but it looks ok anyway.

Theres a rather brown door or hatch that leads...? Have no idea where that one leads too. However very interresting feature. I first thought it was a hatch for laundry but nope. The laundry room downstairs is on the other side of the house so it cant be that.

This bathroom also features an Bidet for the ladies. Was a long time i saw that in a house expect from this one.

Okay folks. Hold on to your butts or whatever. I took this pause to show you two ok or not disasters but now we come to the fine dining room and to say the least. I sure wouldnt want to sit here and eat.

On the wall theres ALOT of BLACK MOLD. That stuff is dangerous to people and i just cant understand why they didnt called a home worker before this problem become this big. I later found out they had called someone but not for the mold but more about that later.

This room mselled horrible and after taking the photos we actually closed the sliding doors both to that room and the living room just to get better air in the house. Nothing was saved from this room anyway so everything went to the local dump.

i felt that the relatives were ashamed how it looked like and i understand them very well but still, they should have called someone before it went this bad.

so.. We end the first floor with this picture of just a hall where they had some faulty fridges and some other stuff. The christmas decorations thats on top of the nearest fridge and the vaccum cleaner were saved. All other stuff from here was throwed away.

fredriksam-2022010408380302692_1.jpg

right then. We move to the second floor where we have the relatives bedroom and many more stuff. We do begin in two rooms that we mainly used as "reading" romms mostly. Sad to say they no longer like reading and wanted to get rid of all the books.
It was only the blue stool that was saved from here + the already filled drawers seen in first picture.

Then they had two guest romms beside each other. The first one in picture 1 is the one that has been used the most. Its their older children that have visited the relatives in these two rooms. The younger of them, a girl, helped them a little in february 2021 with doing laundry in their new washing machine but more about that later.

Both rooms is ok but the first one has some water damages in the ceiling so not perfect.

Ahem. Must breathe slowly.. Well so now we come to the klast room on the second floor. Its the relatives bedroom and boy, do we see some wateer damage right on the wall and ceiling. Yep alot.

Here comes the explanation. Around early 2021 they noticed water coming down the walls and ceiling. They called someone and it appared the roof was broken at some place.

So the roof got repaired but the person being there never checked out any rooms beside the attic, where the most damage was. Somehow i feel he should have checked the other rooms nearest the attic but nope.

I never took any pictures of the attic because there were not much to see there beside some of the damages but it was light compared to the bedroom and the fining dining room (These are on top of each other)

lastly we move to the cellar. It has a sauna, a laundry room, Boiler room, hobby room, another guest room and some more misc rooms.

The first room in this picture make me anxious on some level. Its just so creepy but cant explain it better. Its just so...

fredriksam-2022010409210200281_1.jpg

We movie to the sauna. Its ok looking. The tree wall looks abit differnt in the sauna comopared from outside but i could gladly relax in this sauna if i wanted to do.

Next room is a storage room. We see a cool Spinning Wheel here and thats really cool. Have no idea if it worked or not. They wanted to get rid of everything here.

I could have saved and gave it to some museum maybe but i sadly throwed away that spinning wheel because thwy wanted us to do that.

fredriksam-2022010409304007902_1.jpg

Now we move to another room that was abit different from the others. Firstly theres green colour on the walls and also painted red at the window. This was the only room in the cellar that had that colour.

I noticed something really cool when i watched the picture in full HD. I saw a spider between the old door and the fuses box. Save the picture as JPeg and use windows photo show so you can scroll and make it bigger. There you can see the spider more easily.

Fredrik,

This is a really neat house.  It is a shame that it was allowed to deteriorate to the point where it is now.  Also a shame that so much of what you show went to the dump.  I spy some pretty cool furniture in the house.

The house appears to be of masonry construction with plaster walls.  Too much humidity and water infiltration have done a number on the plaster.  And several of the door frames appear to be hollow metal; not that unusual in light of the masonry and plaster.  But the interior doors are beautiful!  Very nice slab doors, probably a veneer, but just beautiful wood.

Thank you for posting the pictures and giving us the tour!

In next picture theres an open space in the cellar that has several bookshelves with lots of books in them. Every book was throwed away at the local dumb because many books were really old and impossible to sell at lfea markets and sucbh because no one wants that kinda old books anymore. I could have asked for getting some books but never did.

The small stereo was broken so that was throwed away as well. Kinda sadly in a way.

fredriksam-2022010409425309319_1.jpg

Then we come to the boiler room. The boilers were kinda fresh and working so these were good. The bicyce was saved and given to one of the young ones belongin to the relatives.

fredriksam-2022010409484106934_1.jpg

Then we have two pictures from a hobby room or recreat room(is it called that i dont know)

Here we have a TV, Casette Player Microwave and a atereo with vinyl and casette player complete with speakers and some furniture. The stero with the vinyl player and casette (seen near wall) was saved. Also some vinyl records in the room was saved as well. Back from the sofa was a computer also that was saved.
