Just back from Sainsbury's where I bought the new Persil Small and Mighty Colur with wash boosters. Note they have dropped the "outstanding in 30 minutes" claim and now just says "cleans tough stains even in a quick wash". Also no mention of it performing well in the quicker cooler cycles on the reverse of the bottle like it used to. Sainsburys only had the new formula in Colour variety, not in Bio or Non Bio Small and Mighty yet. I did wonder if something new was on the cards as every supermarket seems to have Persil Small and Mighty on some sort of deal at the moment.Just doing a load of darks on a 40 deg Min Iron wash with short selected, cycle time 59mins and will report back on the results. I don't usually buy detergent specifically for colours, I usually just use a liquid, but I am a sucker for a new product so had to try it! The new formula isn't on Persil's website yet.

I also noted sainsburys stock Halo sportswear detergent, see link, claiming to be anti bacterial and anti fungal non bio detergent.Have not seen this detergent before, will maybe get some to try.

Dark load done. It did remove bike chain oil from my hubby's jeans (with a bit of pre treatment with the neat liquid) that's the one stain I have struggled with in the past, so for now it's a thumbs up!

halo

i have used the other halo that kills mrsa and cdiff superbugs ? not bad nice lemon scent i used it on bedding on a 40*

Is anything really new about it?

The old "Unbeatable/Outstanding in 30 mins" claim sounds pretty much the same as "Cleans tough stains in a quick wash". They were forced to drop "Unbeatable" from the packaging and advertising by Advertising Standards, as it WAS beatable! I wonder if the same thing happened to "Outstanding"? I couldn't tell any difference in cleaning from the previous version of Persil, most stains came out but a few others were still slightly visible. Isn't "with wash boosters" the same thing as the old "with the power of pre-treaters" line as well?

Maybe I'm too cynical!

I suppose one can make even one small change and call it new.

I don't know what Tide does these days--I use it so seldom, I can't remember. But years back, I read a comment about Tide always saying "New and Improved." The comment: even the first boxes, hand lettered by monks, said "new and improved!"

Spoodles

I agree, the wash boosters must be the same as the built in pre treaters, it doesn't say anywhere on the new packaging that there are new ingredients.

I think as most machines nowadays have timesaver/quickwash/short buttons Persil have gotten round the 30min claim. I did not know they had been forced to drop that claim, thanks for the info.

This is the first I have heard of Halo detergent at all. Sometimes supermarkets in Scotland can be quite slow in putting new detergents on the shelf. Will pick some up next time I am in the supermarket. I don't really have any gym stuff but I do have a football top of hubby's that does hold smells....I usually give it a good soak before washing.

Rinsing

How you find the Persil liquid in terms of rinsing? Is the rinse water clear on the last rinse? I find some liquids a bugger to rinse out especially if one has an artificial water softner.
