How long do door seals usually last? The freezer door seal works to well and at time it feels like it was super glued shut. However, the refrigerator seal is starting to yellow and doesn't seal very well.

The refrigerator is probably either nine or ten years old made by Whirlpool.

Sounds odd. I have personal experience with Coldspot/Whirly fridges of early-mid 70's vintage without any gasket issues. Maybe some type of cleaning solution was used that the gasket didn't like?

I used to clean the fridge with full strength Mean Green, maybe that had something to do with it. I'm diluting the Mean Green with water to a 60/40, and still get excellent cleaning results. Maybe it was to strong and damaged the seal.
