Radio Classics played a 1951 Red Skelton show this AM that had a Norge Range commerical in it. "THE NORGE RANGE THAT COOKS FOUR WAYS" I didn't get it all but the last one was "THE RANGE THAT COOKS BY REMOTE CONTROL". Anybody heard of this?

Tide Ad in LIFE:
If you'll scroll down past the Norge ad, there's one for Tide that made me wince. The ad touts the stuff for doing dishes by hand, saying it's "Kind to hands, too - now milder than ever!"
I think "kind to hands" was code for "doesn't actually eat the flesh off the bones." My aunt Priscilla used Tide for this purpose, and I often helped out around her house. I well remember the burning sensation that you got after doing a big dishpan full of stuff.
I'm sure Tide is milder now, but back then, it was something else!

Remember, there were -no- light duty liquid detergents at this time (i.e. dishwashing liquids....) the alternatives were unbuilt (Dreft/Vel/Trend) powders or soap (which was laundry/lye type soap then too.

Tide also comes in an all-purpose formula that can be used for dishes, floors, walls, etc. My grandfather always mopped his floors with Tide.
The underware ad with "Daddy" seems somewhat suggestive.
