Hello,

Last year I bought my 1964 ranch house and its been very important to me bring it back to its former charm with period correct interior decorating. While 95% of the house is original and in nice shape, I'm lacking nice period correct appliances in the kitchen. I got very lucky last year and found two very nice clean avocado Fridgidaire 1-18's at an estate sale, but the rest of my luck seemed to have run out when it came to finding the stove, refigerator and dishwasher. My kitchen is set up for a standard 30" electric range. Im on the fence if I want Avocado or Coppertone, (I've always loved Avocado though) but either way, I'd love to find a matched color set, preferrably same brands too but thats asking for alot. I'd love to find something from the mid 60's thru early 70's. As far as the fridge, I'd really enjoy having a side by side, but again, Im not picky as long as something is nice and clean. My dishwasher is a standard size built in unit under the counter.

Right now I have all "newer" white (boring) appliances and it ruins the nice vintage look of my kitchen. I'm a technical guy, so I don't mind the fact that old equipment may need periodic maitenance. The most important thing is that they be original and clean. I've looked and looked on craigslist, gone to numerous estate sales and its been of no luck.

However, I actually did pick up a 1964 Kenmore gas range from an estate sale last weekend with the idea I may go with gas, but then decided to just keep my house the way it is and keep it with an electric stove. Perhaps someone would be interested in this as a trade item? Either way, any advice or anyone who has anything to sell would be greatly appricated as I can gaurantee that they would be well cared for in my home. I'm in the Chicago suburbs by the way.

Thanks!

Nice range with a griddle in the middle.    It's going to take some time to get theese pieces together.  There's a coppertone bottom mount frigidaire fridge advertised somewhere on a craigslist advertised on this super forum. As far as a dishwasher, your bet bet may be to find an older KitchenAid, like a 16 or 17 series model.  You may end up also having to have them painted to have them in a matching color.

Here's the Frigidaire from the Wisconsin Craigslist.

Another suggestion is to keep an eye out at Habitat for Humanities resale store.

That's a good looking GE range!

AND IT HAS ALL THE ACCESSORIES THAT ARE USUALLY LOST OVER TIME!!!  In less than 24 hours a coppertone KitchenAid 16 series dishwasher, a GE TO range with accessories, and a Frigidaire in Aztec Copperton.  All appliances could fit your needs for sure!!!   When's dinner next weekend Doug?  I'll even show ya how to load the dishwasher!!

Thanks for all of the links so far. Its one of those things where you have to see it in person to get a good feel for how nice it is. I sent emails to the person with the dishwasher and also the range hood requesting a couple extra photos. It was nice to see that range hood as I was looking for one of those too as the one I had was removed.

Unfortunately the dishwasher is already gone! I'm going to go with coppertone in my kitchen though, its the best pick. Hopefully another coppertone dishwasher shows up. I was so excited to possiblity get that thing too, but oh well. I am getting something figured out to pick up that GE range and hood though.

Keep an eye out on the Chicago CL. Coppertone (or Avocado) will pop up in no time, and you won't have to worry about excessive travel to procure said Coppertone appliances. :)

The range was donated by a good friend from the board, and the fridge was found behind an appliance store - minutes away from meeting it's maker at the crusher. Same with the KA dishwasher, also snagged from behind an appliance store years ago.

I certainly love my Coppertone kitchen. 1963 Kitty-Fire GE Range (17 series KA will always have SS panels. Lower panel was painted charcoal later on):

One thing about that range hood: before buying it, be sure it is the proper width you want. They came in different sizes.
