Retro Stove/Range and Dishwasher - $300

" My husband and I recently purchased a '50s ranch. Inside were these awesome retro appliances by Kitchenaid. We would love if someone could restore them to their original glory. We would do it ourselves if we had the funds and know how.

The sink and dishwasher are one unit while the range/oven are another. We cannot say whether the dishwasher works properly, though lights do illuminate when the appliance is plugged in. Likewise, the oven/range is capable of turning on but we don't know how well it works.

The mocha and chrome fixtures can be sold separately or together. Please send your best offer. We are willing to negotiate. You must be willing to move the appliances yourself. They are currently near the door of our walk-out basement. If you need them transported to your location, we have a truck and can so for an extra fee.

Sink/DW

I have had two homes equipped with this 48" unit. It's a nice, space-efficient setup and in both cases the dishwasher performed very well.

While taking my shower this morning, I was thinking this would be perfect for a hunting cabin or remote rustic weekend getaway place. Nice masculine color for the man of the house too!!

I Had....

....A 40-inch Westinghouse that was the same era as this one - same knobs, same oven handles, same backsplash design (except longer), everything.

It was not the worst range ever, but it was also not the greatest quality ever. Burner control switches were a constant problem, and the knobs and end caps on the handles kept shedding their ersatz "chrome," because they were vacuum-plated plastic - absurd in an application so close to heat. The entire thing had a tinny, cheap "feel."

I lived with it for a long time, because I wanted a 40-incher very badly and because 40-inchers were difficult to find before the Internet and Craigslist. But it wasn't Westinghouse's finest moment, for sure.
