Well, looks like Helen's 1983 WP that stayed at her old house in TN is now in a coma waiting for me to restore it. As you know the pump went out on it and it surely needs a belt. Easy fix, right?

Well, this is what the slimeball tech told Helen's sister...

"The gears are stripped"

What a complete loser. The ONLY gears in a BD wp/km are for the agitator and it agitates just fine. He didn't want to deal with the machine so he sold them a new one. Helen, being the sweetheart she is told her dad to put the old WP in the basement, DO NOT let them take it. So now it's in the basement waiting for its second life as a collection piece.

1983-2006.. 23 years with NO problems whatsoever doing daily washes. Now that's a hard workin' washer. YAY for BD Whirlpool and Kenmore washers. The BEST!!!

Luckily I took videos of the washer when it was still in good health and I may upload them so we can all revel in her former glory as a daily driver.

I changed the pump on my 24" Kenmore and it's certainly an easy fix; not much to it at all. I haven't had to replace any belts yet, thank God! Would probably lead to lots of frustration and cursing for me.

Lazy Repairmen

The local gas company here offers service contracts on appliances. I know someone that had one on her Maytag Highlander. First service call the machine needed in 40 years, it wouldn't pump out. The idiot from the gas company told her "it needs a new transmission". I changed the pump and it runs like new. They should be run out of business!
