I have a very small collection. I love corning ware. These kids who graduate today don't know what it is to be a true scientist and inventor. They think they are genius because they can program in Java. They are so far removed from how things are designed and manufactured they just don't have a clue. Sorry for the ranting.

Ralph:

Thank you for posting this - it was reported in Iowa newspapers yesterday (because Stookey spent much of his youth here), but I hadn't had a chance to post it here yet.

It's amazing that one man could touch so many lives with one product. Even more amazing, he saw his discovery go from happy accident to product roll-out in one short year. He lived to see it become an enormous seller, pass from fashion, then become so requested that it was brought back again.

I hope the Stookey family has some inkling of how many people appreciate his work.

Thanks for posting this - we still use CorningWare. I didn't know the inventor or how an oven-temperature regulation issue brought about "Pyroceram". My mom loved using it because, mostly, it wouldn't break if it slipped out of her hands. RIP Dr. Stookey, you had a good long life.

I've got a Corningware Grab-It bowl on the desk as I'm typing this full of steaming oatmeal.  Thank you Dr. Stookey!
