Hey

I was watching the live broadcasting of it. What happend, a car drove though the public from the back of the crowed to get through it so it could hit the royal bus. Motive, on-one will ever know. The driver died today. Other 5 people died yesterday and today. About 15 people where injured.

My deep condolances to all the Dutch familys who lost someone they loved.

I was watching the festivities for Queen's day on TV. It was shocking to see what happened. The guy wanted to attack the open bus with the Royal Family. He didn't succeed in that but he made quite a number of victims. Seven people died including the assasin (he died last night while getting surgery).

People in the Netherlands are in shock about this. It was rather normal for the Royal Family to approach the public. It must be seen what measures are taken after this assasination.

I can only say that my sympathy goes out to the victims and their families.

It was so weird, people partying everywhere (in Amsterdam that is, in some other places all festivities were cancelled after the tragedy became known) while the flags were lowered to half mast position. I just can't understand why someone does something like this, especially as it appears to be a one man action.

I live behind this theatre and when I left my house to sample the festive atmosphere the flags were flying on top with the orange vanes attached as is usual with royal birthdays. When I came back the flags were flying half mast. The black screens on the right are there to protect the area where the annual Liberation Concert will be given on a floating stage in the Amstel river. It has been announced that the queen will attend this concert as usual on 5 May.
