Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

During my teenage years we had a laundry tub like the one in photo #1.  At first we used it with the Suds Saver on our ‘62 Whirlpool automatic and later with the ‘69 Maytag Model EL wringer washer that replaced the Whirlpool.  Plus it also served duty as the sink that was used to clean extra large pot and pans.  It was very handy.

Built in 1968

That's  a very busy house, occupied by very busy people.  What's amazing is not that it was built at the height of 'Avocado Popularity' but that it has been maintained with the same look over all of the years.

It would be fun to walk through the house during the sale.

Wow, that is unbelievable

There are 450 pictures of the interior stuff that is for sale in that house. The homeowner would’ve had to bought an item and brought it home about every 2 1/2 minutes of their life to fill the house up with that much stuff.

The house itself was obviously well built, and they spared no expense on appliances, etc. the Tappan microwave was the last of the original style Drop door microwaves the next year they restyle them and went to a side swinging door.

Would be interesting to know what the people did in life to make the money that was spent on all the junk in the house, 90% of the stuff is just tasteless ugly knickknacks there are a few good antiques, the old quilts and some of the needle point is nice. It should make quite an estate sale that’s for sure. There is Hardly a decent piece of furniture in the house that’s not ugly. It looks like things are priced realistically. In fact most of it will probably go out for half what it’s priced for there’s not much of real value.

The house itself for $450,000 is a pretty good deal. It needs a good bit of work from the looks of it obviously the couple grew old and didn’t keep it up very well on the outside. It’s a big house to maintain but has a lot of potential Looks like the property taxes around 13,000 a year but the house itself is very reasonable.

From the property history on the MLS listing it would appear that this home has been occupied by the original owners since it was built in 1968.  Yes, there’s a lot of stuff in that home and much of the furnishings are dated by today’s taste.  But I would venture a guess that there were  lots of great memories made there by a family that really loved that home.

The little cabin looks interesting, wish there was more than one interior photo of it.  Looks like very nice piece of property too.  In my county at home like this would go for well over a million, probably at least a mil and a half,  dated decor or not.

I hope that the owners don’t have to sell to pay for the skilled nursing care of one or both of the spouses.  It’s a shame for anyone’s life savings to have to go to one of those places.

The owners have my utmost respect in meticulously keeping everything in perfect condition and most likely in perfect working order. Truly the definition of a time capsule and how to properly care for your belongings.

The price of the home and land startled me until I looked up the crime rate in that area, 1,430. To put that in perspective, Oakland, California has a crime rate of 1,521 so there you go.

The Green Bedroom Furniture.....

.....reminds me of the set my parents had.
Purchased in 1969 from Montgomery Ward for the new house they had built.
I recently sold the entire set for $100 as I was unable to donate it.
Seems Habitat and other charities didn't want it as it was "too old" (or similar excuses...).
The lady who bought it seemed very excited to get it as she liked green.
It was certainly well-built furniture with dovetail drawers, etc.

Well now you know...

What you call "junk" one sees as things amassed by a woman who lived nearly 100 years on this earth. Late Mrs. Fotzler was a woman who not only was a wife, mother and homemaker but gave to her church, career in education, and many other parts of her life. Mr. and Mrs. Fotzler apparently traveled extensively, perhaps that accounts for some of the "junk" as you call things.
