met Charlie Rudolf way back in 1966.I was riding my Varoom bike to Gunpowder Falls. It was a hot Summer day and I wasn't in the mood to listen to my parents argue. Ineeded some grub and fluids so, I saw a subshop and got some lunch. I ent out to get my bike and saw a FRIGIDAIRE sign illuminated saying Rudolfs Appliance. I went in and saw Frigidaire, Maytag, Whirlpool, Modern Maid, Speed Queen, Kelvinator, Jenn Air, Nutone, Amana, Kitchenaid, Hardwick, and Easy appliances all on display. The High Fashion washer, dryer and range were on display and running. I had never seen nor even read about the High Fashion products and was glued to the washer and dryer. Charlie seamed to be friendly so, I asked what seamed to be hundreds of questions and he and I became instant friends. All of the excitement and interest of mine caused me to have a grand maul seizure. I was taken to the hospital and Charlie closed the store and followed the ambo. I was out about six hours before it subsided. Once I was able to talk, I gave the dr. Our phone number so someone could call my parents. Charlie stayed with me till they got there. Mom was greatfull for Charliehelping me and both of my parents were embarrassed apologizing for my being such a pest. Charlie told them I was far from a pest and showed more knowledge and interest in his products then his workers did. Anyway, sad as it may seam and as much as Elsie, Charlies sister in law who took the business over a few years before he died, called asking if I knew anyone interested in liquidating the old show pieces on her floor. I bought a 1999 GE Profile dual speed convection range that retailed for over $1800 for only $400 and a Maytag Gemini range for $799!!!!!! Anybody interested should go look at what is available and make her an offer. She's real nice and, if you mention you are a friend of Chuck's, she'll give you a great price. I remember a couple dishwashers, refrigerators, built in ranges, built in ovens, built in gas and or electric cooktops and lots of other stuff including appliance parts and accessories. The signs are illuminated and may also be available. Anyone who is interested should go look and make an offer. The store is in Parkville on Harford Rd.

OMG...

I remember Rudolph's! I grew up in W. Towson/Riderwood in the '50s to late 60s, and recall they were one of the bigger dealers around, and known for good service. There was also an appliance place on York Rd, S of Joppa Rd, - can't remember name, Towson Appliance maybe? that I frequented. Last time I was at Rudolph's was around 1972-73 after we'd moved to Westminster, when I needed a part for our '64 Frigidaire d/w that I'd liberated one night off the back dock at Luskins off Loch Ranven Blvd.. I'm amazed Rudolph's is still around, sad that they're closing. Ancient memories...

We go way back. There was also Roberts Appliances down off Loch Raven Blvd I also knew the dealer you're talking about,Valley Appliances.Huge Westinghouse dealer. The owners son was one of my classmates (Podowski) and gave me parts for my Westinghouse twins Robert stokes has.

Valley Appliances...

sounds right - I used to skip out of Towson High School a period or 2 early, stop in there to look at the latest appl's, and could still walk home to be right on schedule for when the bus would normally let me off... Mom never knew a thing! LOL
Ah, the folly of youth!
