Samsung has stepped up their game (and their profile) with highly-rated new products from washers to ranges to TV's and smart phones. Unable to resist the lure of learning exactly what Power Jet Technology might be, I had a good chuckle upon viewing the video. Every washerhead at AW will recognize how PJT works. Water being spun out at the top of the tub is diverted over the balancing ring back into the tub. No recirculation system required. Some bright spark at Samsung learned an important lesson from watching a mid-1960's GE Filter Flo throwing its wash water, LOL. At any rate, PJT is proof positive that if you give it a snazzy marketing term, the low-tech solution is sometimes the best one.
I did the same thing, quite by accident, with the Immersion Care last week. When the machine fills only to the minimum water level it boosts cleaning by spinning the tub, then reversing direction abrubtly, causing all sorts of splashy drama. (You can see this in the 10 Dress Shirts video at the Immersion Care thread.)
The washer's sensor filled to the minimum level for a medium-sized load of black Dockers. I decided more water was needed and added about 4 gallons via bucket. When the washer, not sensing more water had been added, commenced its wild spinning, water exited the top of the tub, was diverted over the balancing ring and back into the tub.
Fearing I had just sent detergent-laden water into the belly of the new, shiny beast, I let loose a few choice words, paused the washer and listened intently for any dripping coming from within. Fortunately, there was none; nor was there a trail of water issuing forth from underneath it. I pulled the tub to one side at the end of the cycle and saw the inward-curving rim at the top of the outer tub responsible for directing the water back from whence it came. Happy ending.
