Next up....the revised brochure

This next brochure DOES include the Patrician model KDP-18. The brochure has some pages which may be duplicated, but I scanned them again so that you could see this complete brochure. Interestingly, both brochures are dated 12/77.

The KDS18 IMHO is KitchenAid at it's finest! As the ad said, "People say it's the Best" and it is!! Thanks for the great scans!

The KD-18 was the last model of the Hobart-made era to have the top-level spray arm, correct?

I seem to recall that there was a desirable feature that the later models had that the KD-18 didn't have, but can't remember exactly what that feature was. Does anyone else remember, or am I simply tetched in the head?

Bigger is better? Maybe

The 19 and up units had the larger upper wash arm under the top rack and the constant wash/rinse device was removed. Most people lament its passing and yet they have seen fit to put it back in today's designs in one shape or form. There were manifolds that had a slit cut out in them to help spray some water over the top rack and while we rarely have Yibbles and Bits on our cups and such, it seems to be a nagging problem not just in the Kitchenaids of that era, but today's machines as well.
Ironically, those upper sprayers were prone to breakage ever since they appeared in the 16 series. People forgot they were there and would load stuff that was too high and would break them. There was a redesign of the 18 series sprayer which looked like a rotating disc like water flinger and I have seen them in Whirlpool units as well but also have seen quite a few broken ones too.
