I am not having a problem with this on AW.org. Can someone please tell me how to stop this scorpionsaver/adpeak from reinstalling in my computer? I delete the damn thing twice a day. It is driving me and my elderly compaq presario crazy. Thanks in advance. Lately it shows up when I have shopped online. Arthur

I just ran across this yesterday on a friends computer. I used Microsoft Defender Offline as the tool. You download the tool and create a bootable USB flash drive (or CD) and run it from there. The rub with this virus is that it infects files that are in use when Windows is running so you have to do the removal when the system isn't up. Also if you don't get every bit it re-installs itself, as you have found.

Remember that Google makes you a pro at PC repair, always Google the virus name and there is tons of removal info out there. The most important tool for fixing an infected PC is a clean running PC on the Internet! Beware though as many of the links you will find are companies trying to sell you software to fix your issue. The free tools are all you need, same applies to anti-virus software.

Here is Win Defender Offline

Be sure to pick the correct bit version of your OS, most likely 32-bit.

I'll assume you are running XP. As I told my friend, its time to stop using XP...

Larry thanks again, I appreciate you and the info. I think "this is a honeydew" project for later tonight. He has much more patience than I. Arthur

Kbones, thank you also for your info. We will work on this tonight. The should of named it "boomerang" it keeps coming back, as you mentioned, no matter how many times you uninstall it.

It's been a while that I've worked with XP and there is a box that needs to be unchecked so that it will not reinstall when rebooting after using the two free ware to get rid of this malware.

DO NOT MANUALLY DELETE SOFTWARE it may corrupt OS files.
Let the dynamic dual do the work for you!!!

I was wrong it is "Windows Vista Home edition". I got the old eyeroll treatment tonight. Thank YOU all again for the help. Larry we plan to print your Link and work from it. We have Norton supplied by Xfinity, what in the world does it do? Arthur

Thankyou gentlemen, I finally got it removed, special thanks to Larry and KbOnes. I printed your page as a map and worked from it. as usual sometimes thing did not go as printed. In the end, It has stayed gone for over 3 days now. Larry thanks again man. It is this do you want to download this toolbar etc. Where is the FCC on this stuff. computers cost a lot of money If I want changes i will request them. Some of this crap is a consumer ripoff. How many corrupted computers do you have in your attic? I think we are up to 4. alr

How many corrupted computers do you have in your attic? I think we are up to 4.
I have six computers in the house. Three are used regularly, one of which runs 24/7. Two are inherited from a previous job that ended in 2007, one of those I booted-up yesterday with no problem. The sixth is 14+ years old, retired from the current job-office but runs perfectly fine. None are corrupted. :-)

Not to beat a dead horse to death.

... one of our poster's mentioned they had assisted an acquaintanced with adspeak/scorpionsaver... Norton caught it today. In the first post in December I had made several online purchases for the Holidays. Well yesterday I shopped on amazon today. Today Norton made a big deal about isolating and blocking adspeak/scorpion. I am posting this in the hope it might save someone else some aggravation. I like Amazon and will continue to shop the site. I do believe it is the culprit. alr
