Just perusing thru an old Sears Canada catalog 1981 and saw this ad for the Sears Best...don't ever remember seeing one of these then or since. Lookee that price, and if that's bad, a 400 watt small mechanical timer mw was $399.

WOW...another cool example of Canadian Kenmores! The control panel looks more "GE-esque", IMHO, rather than the typical Kenmore panel of that time, and I'm surprised to see a water level knob instead of the usual slide lever on the electronic-control machines. Based on what I've seen, the Canadian machines are much more attractive than their American counterparts...

And the dryer...if I only looked at the door I would have thought it was a late model (DD-era)!

funny...

hasen't the drop down hamper door been the top feature? That door was on the BOL dryers if I remember right.
I gotta agree with Austin, I like that control panel

What's that TOGGLE switch close to the water level knob? Looks like it could be on/off. Also I think this machine would fit in the Pink Vintage area since it's no longer made tech. I also see the words "Integrated Circuit". It has microchips inside. Big stuff for back in the 80s

That's what it is...you can (barely) see the words ON-OFF below the switch. Of course this was also on the Whirlpool equivalent...

At the old Crosstimbers place there was a brown-colored (not really Coppertone) Whirlpool with electronic controls. Should have picked it up...had some really nice BD Kenmores over there as well.

Another cool Sears Item

I agree the control panels is cool. Coincidentally the computer in that washer looks to be the same used in the washer that was in the sunday parade Whirlpool advertisement last week (look in the Imperial section herein and for the post "lookee what I found")
The side swinging door was not the same side swing door that was used in the US at that time. The door looks slightly larger in this pic as does the recessed handle. I wonder if the drum hole itself was larger.
Again that for the pictues.

The water level

is a knob on on my '78 Solid State LK. And the matching dryer has the full width drop down door.
