Seasons Greetings from Versatronic

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support AutomaticWasher.org:

You're a GE guy, aren't you Mike? I think a '59 (or thereabouts) with the nifty raised console and TOGGLESWITCH (hi Tog!) cycle selectors would be very nice for you. A turquoise set, preferably. Something with these two cycles: Psycho and Delicate. (Latin: Psychoso In Delicatum)

At least we share a passion for the Cramps and Iggy Pop

A pair like the background of Frigilux's post would be nice. The manufacture date should be between 56 and 62. Frigidaire's are nice, too. Every time I decide what my dream machines are, I change my mind when someone posts pictures of their collection. Sooner or later I'll settle on my dreams machines permanently. But a turquoise pair would look great in the laundry room. Or a washer match to my Versatronic dryer.

No f***ing way!! You like The Cramps, too? Are we the same damn person, Mike? You know, living in some mirror-image musical universe? And I thought it was amazing you liked T. Rex, The Undertones and Guided By Voices... You and I could start a KILLER cover band, man.

Let's get really esoteric and confuse everyone now

Actually, "At least we share a passion for the Cramps and Iggy Pop" is a line from Art Magazines. See if you can find a nod to the Undertones on the CD.

Wow

Talk about stepping back in time.........fabulous decor and decorations. I can picture Loretta Young in that kitchen with a mesh apron and multipleated skirt sash-shaying around using all the turquoise appliances and accoutrements.

Beautiful aluminium trees with those wonderful revolving color lights. Makes me long for my childhood even though it was a nightmare............one of our neighbors when I was a kid had an aluminium tree with the revolving light and I loved to sit there and watch it.

Thanks for the pics they are great. So, when can we come over for egg nog?

You got it Frig

You got it Frigilux. Yeah, Liquid Sky is one of my cult movie favorites. That CD is permeated with cult movie references. I bet you can't find a Sweet reference in there. Much much much harder to find. I doubt if you'll ever find it.

Air-way, you can stop by anytime. I have some aprons here. No need to bring your own.

Oh, THAT definitely sounds like a challenge, Mike. I'll meet you back here at high noon tomorrow. Except we're having a snowstorm, so I might not have to go in to work, in which case let's make it brunch at ten-ish. I'll bring the mimosas.

All right, it's high noon in Minnesota and my snowstorm wimped out, so I'm at work. Mike, I have to admit I find no obvious Sweet reference in the CD. I have these two ideas and they're both long shots:

1) Puppets/pulling strings---a reference to their half live LP Strung Up in which they appear with strings attached on the cover?

2) The line "she's a first class bleeder"---but that might be from a Mott The Hoople song. I can't remember.

I have to know, though, so when you see this, spill the beans!

It's not a lyric

It's a small musical reference, it's not a lyric nod. We end a song exactly like a Sweet song. Check the end of each song, and see if anything clicks. If not, I'll spill it.

OK, Mike, here are my guesses.

1) Stigmata's ending is a tad reminiscent of the end of Hellraiser.

But if I were a betting man, my money would be on this:

2) The end of No Hidden Track (#17) is like the end of Set Me Free.

If both these guesses are incorrect, I would like to point out I DID notice the last chord of Art Magazines sounds exactly like the last chord of Beaver O'Lindy from Sparks' "A Woofer In Tweeter's Clothing" album.

Let me know if I passed the quiz, man!
